What is Yoga Pilates?

Contrary to common notions that pilates and yoga are the same, they are different from each other. This notion may come from the knowledge that pilates where derived from ancient yoga positions and where just developed into a new form by Joseph Pilates. Pilates's main focus is strengthen the abdominals, lengthen and stabilize the spine, improves posture and develops overall balance and strength. It doesn't have the meditation aspect of yoga. It has six principles known as: concentration, control, precision, centering, breath, and flow. These principles efficiently train the body to move with minimal impact on it. Pilates also has series of controlled movements like the yoga but it differs for it incorporates work using certain machines.

Pilates gives a liner, longer and dancer-like line body that made it popular among dancers. It is ideal for molding the body and giving it a good posture. It creates a balance between flexibility and strength thus giving a healthy, stronger and more balanced body. Each pilates position also teaches you to flow with grace.

You can incorporate the breathing techniques of pilates and the meditative form of yoga in your daily practice and benefit from stress free life.
