The Magic of Bikram Yoga
Bikram yoga's heating technique will induce you to sweat a lot. With the method of practicing under extreme environment conditions, its unique process has made it a well-known exercise. Bikram yoga is a variant of hatha yoga. The patent for this yoga practice was owned by Gumby Bikram Choudhury. He is a renowned yoga guru in the late 1970's. Choudhury had studied yoga early in his life under the supervision of the famed yoga master Bishnu Ghosh. Unfortunately, Choudhury was involved in a tragic accident which rendered him useless. He was not disheartened by the incident. He returned to his teacher and subjected his body to healing through yoga practices. While he was under the care of his mentor, he developed the 26 varieties of asana postures to be used in Bikram yoga. Doing the Sizzling Approach of Bikram Yoga Bikram yoga is composed of twenty-six postures. It includes two breathing exercises known as pranayama. Bikram yoga is done on a closed room with a temperature of 105 degrees Fahrenheit. The session area also has forty percent humidity. The variety of poses resembles the postures found in the surroundings. Together with the sweltering heat, Bikram yoga presents its uniqueness and rigidity on its practices. This type of yoga is a series of unchanging sequence of postures designed to rejuvenate and strengthen the whole body. Another technique used in the 90-minute Bikram yoga exercise is the "tourniquet effect". The movement involves tightening the blood stream and generating pressure on its passage ways while bending and moving. Releasing the pressure will lead to a soothing effect on the body. It also stimulates the blood flow through different veins and arteries of the body. Due to the amount of heat applied on the exercises, the body requires rejuvenation of at least nine glasses of water after each session. This amount of water intake helps the body retain its normal temperature. During your early sessions in class, you may experience nausea and dizziness because of the heat. This uneasiness is rather normal, since the body is still adjusting to the extreme conditions applied. So in going to a Bikram yoga class, do not forget to bring a wet cloth and water to cool you off. Having a drying towel and wearing light clothing will also help you out in surviving a Bikram yoga session. It is advisable for those who are going to a Bikram class to wear light garments. Women are recommended to wear shorts and sports bra, and only shorts for men. A lightweight tank top is also acceptable if you don't want to expose your body figure details. Eating a few hours before the session is also discouraged. You may experience uneasiness such as body aches and sticky feeling on your skin during the early stages of the exercise yet it will dissipate shortly after a few routines. Bikram yoga has some restrictions due to its extreme practice conditions, thus some people with diabetic problems should first seek the doctor's advice before engaging into this yoga session.
